Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitarist as well as a music producer. She is the youngest woman and was the first person to be awarded a British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is the Indian young sitar artist. She is a scholar and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982 and began her life by hopping to London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13, she gave her debut performance at New Delhi. In Encinitas the state of California, in 1999 she earned an honorary high school certificate. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful career in recording and performing despite being young. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for many years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Her stage career is very extensive for she has appeared in all of the major stages in the world. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not just limited to music. She also published Bapi the Love of My Life in the year 2002. The book is a biography that pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in a number of films. In 2003, she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Her career continues to grow and she will continue to achieve great success in the near future. Anoushka Shankar is a British native who lived her childhood split between London, Delhi and California. at the age of nine, she started studying music alongside her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar was at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Her father traveled around the world with her and she gained many experience. When she was still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. The House of Commons Shield was awarded an award from the British Parliament for being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and the youngest winner of this prize.
