Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in the part of Montreal called"the West Island. A lot of people who aren't aware of this name believe it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. However the West Island includes everything westward from Montreal, including the town of Lachine. The West Island is frequently referred to as the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, the time she spent there was not long. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa in Ontario. Her first ambition was to become a dancer, but the rapid growth of her body led to she literally outgrew her dance partners. According to an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. Once I outgrew male partners I began to stop. Many former dancers turn into acting and Brugel wasn't an exception. An instructor in drama at her high school pushed Brugel in the direction she needed. It was her teacher who recommended her to audition in the role of Anne for their school's annual production. She threw herself into it and ended up playing the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she took classes in theatre and was awarded an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Through the years that followed, Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions on both small and large screens receiving the most media attention, when she was offered the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and appeared only on occasion.
